Floating body found in Lake Lanier identified

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) is reporting that a floating body was found in Lake Lanier.

In a post late Thursday evening, the sheriff's office said that heavy police presence is at the Six Mile Creek boat ramp due to the body recovery.

In a written response to AccessWDUN early Friday morning, Georgia's Department of Natural Resources Public Affairs Officer Mark McKinnon said, " At approximately 6:40 p.m. on February 27, 2025, Georgia game wardens, along with Forsyth Fire Services, were notified of a body that had been found by local fisherman floating in shallow water near Six Mile Creek Boat Ramp on Lake Lanier. Upon arrival, the officers located the body, and a Forsyth Fire Services responder entered the water on foot and made the recovery. The body was turned over to the Forsyth County Coroner for autopsy. The victim was identified as Murtuza Mansoorali Sayani, age 56, of Lilburn".

The cause for Sayani's death has not been determined or released as of this publication.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office does not suspect foul play was involved.
