Update on March 4 @ 5:30 p.m.

Hall County School District's Stan Lewis has issued a statement regarding a person trying to enroll to West Hall High School.

The person matches the description of the person allegedly targeting Seckinger High School students online according to Lewis.

“The safety of our students and staff is the top priority of the Hall County School District. We want to make you aware of a situation involving an individual who previously attempted to enroll in a Gwinnett County school after using social media to contact students there and invite them to meet in various locations. An individual matching that description recently attempted to enroll at one of our high schools," Lewis said.

Lewis said school officials noticed he did not have proper documentation and that he was not the appropriate age to enroll, so he was turned away.

Local law enforcement and school resource officers were notified.

Lewis encouraged parents to speak with their students about online safety.

"We encourage families to talk with their students about online safety, including the dangers of communicating with unknown individuals and sharing personal information. Please remind them to report any suspicious activity to a trusted adult. Additionally, anyone can report a concern to our anonymous tip line on the district web page. Thank you for your support in keeping our students and staff members safe," Lewis said.

The Gwinnett County Police Department (GCPD) did say that Seckinger has identified and made contact with the person in question.

Gwinnett County Public Schools officials are warning parents and students of Seckinger High School about a person allegedly targeting students online.

Seckinger High School Principal Jimmy Fisher issued a statement to the community, saying the person, who has not been publicly identified as of Tuesday afternoon, has been using social media to contact students. The person has allegedly been trying to invite students to meet them in various locations across Gwinnett County.

"School Resource Officers are actively investigating the situation and are working closely with other local law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of all our students," Fisher said. "We strongly encourage you to have conversations with your student about the dangers of communicating with unknown individuals online, sharing personal information, and meeting up with them."

Fisher added that the person physically came to the school's campus in Mulberry at least once and has been issued a criminal trespassing warning, saying that the person is not permitted on school property.

Students at the school are being encouraged to alert school officials if they see any concerning behavior online or at the school. Those tips can be submitted through the GCPS Tips mobile app or by texting "GCPS" to 738477.

AccessWDUN has reached out to the Gwinnett County Police Department for comment on the issue, but the department has not issued a statement as of Tuesday afternoon. Officials have not given a timeline for how long the alleged activity has been going on, or when the person went to the school.
