Woman charged with felony murder in shooting death of Gainesville man

A Gainesville woman has been charged with felony murder for the shooting death of a man early Saturday morning. 

The Hall County Sheriff's Office said in a release deputies responded to a home on the 4200 block of Bayridge Drive off C. Rogers Rd. at 1:15 a.m. Upon arrival, deputies discovered an unresponsive man in a bedroom who appeared to have been shot in the torso. The man was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville where he was pronounced dead. 

The victim was later identified as James David Barron, 68, of Gainesville. 

An initial investigation into the death reportedly revealed  Suzanne Renee Mericle, 61, allegedly shot Barron with a handgun.  The two were reportedly in a relationship and lived together at the residence. Miracle was at home when the deputies arrived. 

 Mericle has also been charged with with aggravated assault under the Family Violence Act and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime (felonies). She was arrested and transported to the Hall County  jail where she is held without bond. 

The case remains under investigation.
