CLEVELAND, Ga. — After one season on the job, Scott Givens has resigned as White County boys basketball head coach.
White County athletics director Lloyd Collins confirmed the resignation on Tuesday.
"We are grateful for Coach Givens’ dedication and contributions to our program, and we wish him the best moving forward," Collins said.
The Warriors were riddled with injuries this season, leading to a dismal 5-21 overall record and finished sixth in Region 6-3A with a 4-10 record.
Givens came to White County from South Forsyth, where he led the War Eagles to one Class 6A state tournament berth and five Class 7A tournament berths. The 2021 War Eagles finished 23-4 and were Region 6-7A champions. Givens was named Region 6-7A Coach of the Year for his team's success during the 2020-21 season.
In his nine seasons playing in the state’s largest classification, Givens finished with a 109-116 record with six tournament berths.
