After a fatal wreck in Hart County Wednesday that killed one person and injured three others — including two young children — the driver has been charged.
The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) reports that the driver, 29-year-old Dustin Owen, has been charged with homicide by vehicle in the first degree, driving under the influence, two counts of child endangerment, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, and tire requirements.
Owen was released from Prisma Healthcare in Greenville, South Carolina where he was being treated for injuries from the crash.
Afterwards, he was taken into custody by the Greenville County Sheriff's Office. He is being held there while he awaits extradition back to Georgia.
The case remains active and ongoing.

Georgia State Patrol (GSP) says one person has died and three others-including two young children-were injured in a Hart County Crash Wednesday afternoon.
State Troopers arrived to the Lankford Road accident scene at 3:53 p.m. to find a 2001 Dodge Dakota truck driven by 29-year-old Dustin Owen of Lavonia had let the roadway and struck a tree.
Owen was transported to Prisma Healthcare in Greenville, South Carolina with serious injuries. Two juveniles, ages 1 and 2, sustained minor injuries and were transported to Prisma Healthcare for evaluation. The front seat passenger in the truck, identified as 22-year old Brittany Lewis of Lavonia, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A release from Georgia State Patrol says no charges have currently been filed in the case, as the investigation is on-going.
