Residents are encouraged and welcome to apply for the Fourth Annual Citizens Academy, a free program that will provide the participants a behind the scenes look and get a deeper understanding of how Forsyth County Government functions.
Residents will be able to participate in eight classes over the course of four months and have the opportunity to meet with representatives from the Fire, Finance and Community Development departments. The 2025 schedule is available here.
“The Citizens’ Academy is designed to educate residents about Forsyth County Government and create champions of Forsyth County who are inspired to become community leaders themselves,” County Manager David McKee said. “We are excited to welcome another class of residents to the program and look forward to their continued contributions to making this County the best place to live, work and play.”
To be eligible to register for this program participants must be at least 18 years of age and a resident of Forsyth County. Participants may also be a small business owner in the county or attend a university or college in the area. Participants must make a commitment to attend the full program, which will be held from 6-8pm on Wednesdays beginning May 7 through Sep. 17.
Those interested in applying for the citizens academy must submit a completed application. The applicants will be asked to complete a confidentiality and liability form prior to the start of the program.
Applications must be submitted by Monday April 21. Candidates will be notified about their acceptance into the program April 23. For more information about the program applicants should email [email protected].
