Kristie Turner with  Hall County’s Planning and Zoning Department will take on the role of director of Development Services, effective May 19.

Hall County officials said Marshal’s Office Capt. Barry Shaw has been the interim director since Dec. 11 and will continue during the leadership transition.

“Barry has done a tremendous job leading the Development Services Department while we searched for the right candidate to fill this role. We are appreciative of his leadership and look forward to all his office will accomplish working alongside Kristie in her new leadership role,” County Administrator Zach Propes said.

Turner has served as the principal planner for Hall County for the past year.

“Kristie brings a wealth of experience in leadership, customer service and quality assurance,” Propes said. “Her extensive knowledge of planning and development processes and ability to build relationships within the community will serve as invaluable skills in her new role, ensuring our Development Services Department can continue to thrive and provide Hall County’s citizens, developers and business owners with excellent local government services. We look forward to the positive impact she will make as she transitions into her new role."

Before working for Hall County Government, Turner was the county planner and interim building department manager in Casper, WY. There, she oversaw the Planning and Code Enforcement departments, led the Board of Appeals and the Planning and Zoning Commission, and handled the departments’ budgets.

She has a Bachelor of Science in Organizational/Project Management from Colorado Christian University and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Florida.
