FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS - The day after Arkansas quarterback Zak Clark was cleared to transfer to Central Arkansas, reserve quarterback Ryan Sorahan said he was staying, while a standout tight end from a Florida high school says he wants to come play for the Razorbacks.
Sorahan, who started two games for Arkansas last fall, reaffirmed Tuesday that he will return to the team. Sorahan said he had briefly considered transferring but decided to compete for the starting job in spring practice.
He's not thinking about his plans beyond the spring, Sorahan said from his home in California.
``I'm playing it by ear,'' Sorahan said. ``My plans are to stay at Arkansas, but I can't say what I'll do in the future.''
Tight end Lonnie Davis of Ed White High School in Jacksonville, Fla., says he vowed after a visit to the Fayetteville campus in early December that he would return to play for the Razorbacks.
Now the 6-4.5, 235-pound Davis has made that commitment public. He said he had previously made an oral commitment to attend Florida State, but began having second thoughts about the matter.
``I told (Arkansas coach Houston) Nutt I was going to call Florida State and tell them I didn't want to go there,'' Davis said. ``I can make a difference at Arkansas.''
Davis is rated by many national recruiting services as the nation's top tight end.
