Reports: Burns leaving Georgia Tech to enter NFL draft

ATLANTA - Georgia Tech running back Joe Burns, who was academically ineligible for the Seattle Bowl, will give up his final year of eligibility to enter the NFL draft, according to newspaper reports.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and The Macon Telegraph both reported Burns' decision. He is expected to sign with agent Phil Williams, who also represents Tampa Bay quarterback Brad Johnson out of his Peachtree City office.

Williams said Burns informed the NFL of his decision Monday.

A three-year starter for the Yellow Jackets, Burns rushed for 1,165 yards and 14 touchdowns this past season.
