ATLANTA - Utility infielder Keith Lockhart agreed to a minor league contract with the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday night just before the midnight free-agent deadline.
The contract would pay Lockhart $600,000 if he's added to the Braves' major league roster.
Free agents not signed by the deadline are ineligible to re-sign with their former teams until May 1.
Lockhart, 37, joined the Braves in 1997 and batted .219 with 12 RBI and three homers in 104 games last season. He has averaged .269 since entering the major leagues in 1994 with San Diego.
