ATLANTA - Airline executives plan to meet today with government and airport officials to discuss ways to prevent future snow-related backups that kept some passengers waiting inside planes for up to ten hours.
The general manager of Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport -- Ben DeCosta -- called for the meeting.
He said Friday that sitting on a plan for hours is -- quote -- ``NOT tolerable.''
Snowfall on Wednesday caused the delays. Inbound flights arrived while outbound planes lined up to be de-iced.
Lines for de-icing -- which usually takes 15 minutes per plane -- were up to 20 planes long.
A spokesman says Delta is trying to contact those stuck on planes to apologize to them individually.
