GAINESVILLE - The Newtown Florist Club celebrated its 52nd anniversary Saturday night.<br>

The observance was held at St. John Baptist Church in Gaineville and featured a Gospel Extravaganza performed by choirs from churches across Hall County.<br>

The Newtown Florist Club has, over the years, evolved into a community activist group, focusing on civil rights activities and other issues facing minorities. <br>
