Conservation group gives Deal a 'zero'

By by Ken Stanford
WASHINGTON - The League of Conservation Voters, in releasing its 2001 National Environmental Scorecard, gives Congressman Nathan Deal of Gainesville a "zero."

Among other members of Congress from Georgia, the league gave Senator Max Cleland the only perfect score - a 100.

The scorecard rates votes on such issues as farm conservation funding, clean water protection, and public health.

Efforts to reach Deal for comment have been unsuccessful.
