Truck driver found guilty of vehiculer homicide in Hall County

GAINESVILLE - A Hall County Superior Court Jury Friday found a Lousianna truck driver guilty of second degree vehicular homicide.

The verdict was returned around 11:30 Friday morning.

Rodney Wayne George of Grayson, Lousiana, went on trial Monday in connection with an accident on Athens Highway in 2000 that left 55-year-old Wayne Strickland of Jefferson dead.

George is being held in custody until sentencing at a later date.

The Hall County District Attorney's Office had sought a conviction of first degree vehicular homicide which would cary a stiffer penalty.
