GAINESVILLE - Work begins Friday night on the reconstruction and resurfacing of four miles of I-85 between Old Peachtree Road and State Route 20.
As we first reported last month, the project will involve the removal and replacement of 10 inches of asphalt and base materials.
Work will be done on weekends only over the next sixteen weeks.
"Weekend work will begin each Friday at 9 p.m. and continue through 9 a.m. Monday," said Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) District Engineer Larry Dent.
"Work will occur both northbound and southbound each weekend (except holiday weekends)."
