Former Hall sheriff's deputy indicted

GAINESVILLE - A former Hall County Deputy Sheriff has been indicted by a county grand jury on child molestation charges.

Phillip Carpenter resigned after the investigation began earlier this year - about five months after the incidents are alleged to have begun.

Hall County District Attorney Jason Deal says Carpenter, who was with the sheriff's department for about four years, was acquainted with the alleged victim.
