More rallies planned in support of 10 Commandments

UNDATED - More rallies in support of the display of the Ten Commandments in public buildings are planned this month in northeast Georgia.

One will be held Thursday at noon in the parking lot of the Habersham County Courthouse in Clarkesville.

A second is scheduled at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday October 21 at the Union County High School Football Stadium in Blairsvillle.

Former U.N. Ambassador Alan Keyes and Vision America President Rick Scarborough will be the keynote speakers at the Blairsville rally, whose organizers say it will focus on constitutional, moral and religious issues concerning the rights of states and individuals to publicly acknowledge God.

It will be held one day after the scheduled start of a trial in U.S. District Court in Gainesville of a suit filed against the Habersham County Commission over the display of a copy of the Ten Commandments in the county courthouse and at the county jail.

Dr. Keyes was the featured speaker at one of two rallies held in Winder last month in support of the display of the Ten Commandments in public buildings. Winder is the county seat of Barrow County where county commissioners have also been sued over the display of the Ten Commandments on public property.
