GAINESVILLE - A report carried here Monday and Tuesday concerning the future of Amtrak, which serves Gainesville with rail passenger service twice-a-day, which was based on information from the Westwood One Radio Network, was in error.
Amtrak is NOT in danger of shutting down Wednesday. The situation described in the report was resolved several months ago, according to Amtrak spokesman Bill Shulz.
We regret the error.
