ATLANTA - The Georgia Supreme Court says the city of Buford has no authority to place a moratorium on electrial power substations in the city.
The high court has thrown out Buford's one-year ban on such facilities, saying the Georgia Public Service Commission has the only authority to decide such matters.
The city council passed the moratorium - which targeted substations within 500 feet of residential areas - last year.
Georgia Power took the city to court after Buford officials issued a stop-work order on a substation in the Shoal Creek area.
