Gainesville rainfall 6+ inches above normal

GAINESVILLE - Rainfall so far this year in Gainesville is running about six inches above normal. <br> <br> Another inch fell Wednesday at Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport, bringing the total for the week at the airport to about 2.25 inches. <br> <br> More than 35 inches have now fallen since January 1. <br> <br> That puts the city on a pace to end the year 16 inches above average - at more than 70 inches of rain for the year.<br> <br> Meanwhile, temperatures for the month of June are running below average, so far. Normally, by now, highs in the 80s should have been recorded each day of the month. However, this year, its been in the 80s on only 10 of 18 days - with only two days recording a high of more than 85.
