Hall's new housing starts up almost 3%

WASHINGTON - New housing starts in Hall County are up almost three percent - and three counties in our area are among the ten fastest growing in the state in numbers of new housing units.

According to the Census Bureau, new housing in Hall County increased from 53,711 in July 2001 to 55,284 in July 2002. That's an increase of 2.9 percent.

Fannin, Forsyth, and Gwinnett counties registered enough new housing during the period to be ranked among the ten fastest growing in the state - registering increases of 6.3, 5.9, and 4.9 percent, respectively.

Paulding County led the way in the state, with a 7.7 percent increase in new homes during the period.

Elsewhere in northeast Georgia, Banks County recorded an increase of 1.9 percent; Barrow, 4.9; Dawson, 4.5; Habersham, 2.4; Lumpkin, 3.4; and, White, 3.3 percent.
