GAINESVILLE - Students attending Hall County high and middle schools are now permitted to bring their cellphones and pagers to school - but they can't use them on campus except before the first bell and after the last.
The school board adopted a policy Monday night that permits students to bring the devices to school - but prohibits their use during school hours. State law already prohibits their use on school buses.
The board has yet to decide what specific discipline measures will be taken in dealing with violators although some policies already cover some anticipated violations.
Student pagers and cellphones will still be banned at the county's elementary schools.
