New housing starts in Hall steady

GAINESVILLE - The trend of fewer new housing starts in Hall County entered its fourth month in August.

Gainesville-Hall County Building Inspection Services says 82 permits were okayed last month for new, single-family homes in the county.

The monthly totals for such permits dropped into the double-digits in May about the time the county commission adopted new minimum residential lot size requirements.

Triple-digit numbers had been the monthly norm for several years.
