GAINESVILLE - Injuries or no injuries, the Chestatee High girls softball team picked up right where it left off in Region 7-AAA last year.
The War Eagles pounded visiting Gainesville Tuesday afternoon, 16-0, behind a no-hitter from Brooke Puckett.
Chestatee jumped out to quick 3-0 lead in the first inning and crusied to the win.
The game was called after four innings because of the mercy rule.
Chestatee (8-5, 1-0) was 17-3 in the region last year.
"Considering how many starters we have out right now, I thought it was a very good showing for us," coach Devon Thomas said.
Taylor Burke led the hit parade for Chestatee with four hits, three RBIs and four runs scored.
Hannah Cooper was 3-for-4 with an RBI and Carrie Brookshire and Greta lang Henry each had two hits.
The Eagles travel to White County on Thursday.
