Hall man uninjured after car hits bear

BUFORD - A Hall County man escaped injury early Tuesday morning when his car struck a black bear on I-85 in Gwinnett County, killing the animal.

Gwinnett police spokesman Dan Huggins says it happened about 2:00 near Georgia Highway 120.

Cpl. Huggins says Ted Calvin Townsend, Junior, of Gainesville told police he struck the bear after it darted in front of him.

Huggins says there have been several bear sightings in that same area over the past several days and it is believed that all involved this same bear.
