GAINESVILLE - The head of the Commission for a New Georgia said in Gainesville Thursday the state must shift its emphasis if it is to remain viable in the "global economy."
Annie Hunt Burriss told the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors the key areas are: what kinds of a focus on economic development and jobforce development.
Burriss told her audience "this is not your daddy's economy anymore."
"The cheaper land, cheaper labor kinds of companies have gone to cheaper lands and cheaper labor," she said. "They've gone to Mexico but they've really moved on further, to China."
