New District Traffic Engineer for GDOT in Gainesville

GAINESVILLE - The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) District Engineer in Gainesville announces the appointment of Brent Cook of Cumming as District Traffic Engineer for the 21 counties in Northeast Georgia that make up the Gainesville GDOT office.

Cook began his career with the GDOT in the training program in 1992. He then served as Urban Systems Planning Engineer in the Office of Planning at the GDOT Headquarters in Atlanta until 1998.

Cook moved to the Gainesville GDOT office in November 1998 as the District One Planning and Programming Engineer. He was responsible for systems inventory, environmental services, public transportation, as well as, planning and programming construction projects throughout the district.

In his new position as District Traffic Engineer, Cook will be responsible for the placement, installation and maintenance on all traffic signals and other traffic control devices throughout the 21-county district served by the Gainesville office and will supervise 18 people.

Cook is a native of McCaysville, Georgia.
