Gailey calls for figures on Hall EMT pay

By by Jerry Gunn
GAINESVILLE - Hall County Commissioners want figures on paramedic pay.

Vice Chairman Steve Gailey said Monday morning it's a serious problem because EMTs are leaving Hall County for higher paying jobs elsewhere after Hall spends money training them.

Gailey asked the county Human Resources Department to present figures on EMT salaries next month which he hopes will show just how far behind Hall County in EMT pay compared to other counties.

FEE WAIVER

Pet owners who can prove that their animal is not potentially dangerous may get their hearing fee money back.

Assistant County Attorney Anne Bishop presented the revision to the proposed county code amendment calling for a two hundred and fifty dollar fee for dangerous animal appeals.

The fee refund is up to the judge hearing the case.

The fee would be waived for people unable to pay it with proof of financial hardship.

SECURITY SAVINGS

Commissioners learned they may soon be able to save some security system money.

County Administrator Jim Shuler told them all courts are now in the new court house and the security station and deputies at the old court house entrance can be removed.

Shuler said a security person will remain on hand temporarily to direct people to court.

The old court house now houses the county's administrative and county commission offices.
