Hall commission changes time of 'Wal-Mart' meeting

By by Ken Stanford
GAINESVILLE - Hall County Commissioners are going ahead with plans to allow extra time December 9 to hear the North Hall Wal-Mart controversy.

Commissioners, who first discussed the idea last week, have now served notice the December 9 meeting will start 30 minutes early - at 4:30.

The agenda for the meeting, which will be held at the Gainesville Civic Center, is expected to include a recommendation from the county planning commission concerning plan to put a Wal-Mart SuperCenter at Southers and Thompson Bridge roads.

"We're doing things to make sure everyone has time to speak," commissioner Roger Cole said last Thursday. "We'll dispense with other subjects in that meeting before that so that Wal-Mart becomes the last item on the agenda, since it go quite a period of time."

The Wal-Mart rezoning application goes before the Hall Planning Commission November 15 in a meeting also slated for the Civic Center.
