Legacy Link flu shots a big draw at Lakeshore Mall

By by Ken Stanford
GAINESVILLE - About 150 people were in line at 10:00 Wednesday morning when Legacy Link opened the doors of its Lakeshore Mall Legacy Shop for flu shots.

Roger Ray, the agency's education director, says he didn't know what kind of crowd would be waiting. Ray said about 500 people had stopped by during the past week, not to register, but to indicate an interest in getting a shot.

Ray says Legacy Link has 2,000 doses of the vaccine and they are for anyone - not just those people considered high-risk.

The vaccines are being given by Onsite Medical of Atlanta, a private company. Ray says Onsite is able to offer the shots to anyone because it is using a supply of vaccine that was bought before the shortage occurred this fall.

Ray says the shots are free to seniors who have Medicare Part-B, but you will have to bring your Medicare cards. For everyone else, the cost is $25.
