Ag awards handed out

GAINESVILLE - State Representative Carl Rogers, Rey-Brin Farms of Lula and Pine Wood Products were the top award winners at the annual Agribusiness Awards Breakfast in Gainesville Thursday.

Rogers was named Friend of Agriculture; Rey-Brin Farms, Farmer of the Year; and, Pine Wood Products received the Outstanding Agribusiness Award.

In addition, J.M. McClure of Oakwood, retired ag educator from South Hall; Edward Stowers of Lula, retired ag educator from East Hall; and Roy Truelove, retired Farm Bureau Sales Manager and a beef cattle farmer from North Hall, were inducted into the Agribusiness Hall of Fame.

Also, six students from Lula Elementary School were recognized for their art and essay entries in the Ag Day in Georgia Contest. They are Brittney Latty, Krista Springer, Joey Leonard, and Rachel Lunsford. Also Haley Woodard and Jeanilee Gaddis.
