12 GC students included in Who's Who

GAINESVILLE - Twelve Gainesville College students are included in the 2004 edition of WHO'S WHO AMONG STUDENTS IN AMERICAN JUNIOR COLLEGES. These students were selected as national outstanding campus leaders.<br> <br> Campus nominating committees and editors of the annual directory have included the names of these students based on their academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities and potential for continued success. <br> <br> These Gainesville College students join an elite group of students from more than 1,400 institutions of higher learning in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and several foreign nations.<br> <br> Students named this year from Gainesville College are: <br> <br> · Jamiece G. Baptiste of Lawrenceville. A sophomore majoring in business, she is a 2001 graduate of Berkmar High School. She is the daughter of James and Gwen Baptiste. She is currently serving as president of the Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Club and has been on the Dean's List and Merit List while at GC.<br> <br> · Grace Elizabeth Byrd of Talmo. A spring inductee into Phi Theta Kappa, she has been on the Dean's List and Merit List while at GC. She is a sophomore majoring in accounting and finished her home schooling in 2002. The daughter of Mark and Donna Byrd, she enjoys playing piano.<br> <br> · Claudia A. George of Buford. The daughter of Alicia E. Martinez and Manuel H. Martinez, she is a 1989 graduate of Leuzinger High School. She is a sophomore majoring in English and won first place in The Chestatee Review poetry contest. Some of her work will be published in this year's edition of The Chestatee Review. <br> <br> · Lindsay Leigh Harris of Flowery Branch. A 2001 graduate of Johnson High School, she is a sophomore majoring in pre-pharmacy. She is the daughter of Jimmy and Janice Harris.<br> <br> · Anna Michelle Hester of Gainesville. <br> <br> · Bojana Jonjic of Flowery Branch <br> <br> · Bobby Lamar Mathis of Hoschton. A sophomore majoring in criminal justice, he is the son of Mattie Lou Mathis. He graduated from Jackson County Comprehensive High School in 2002 and has been on the Merit List while at GC. He was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa this spring semester.<br> <br> · Elizabeth Erin Nelson of Cumming. A 2002 graduate of Forsyth Central High School, she is the daughter of Jeremy and Sheri Nelson. She is a sophomore majoring in business administration. While at GC, she been active in the Gainesville College Ambassadors and currently serves as that organization's secretary. She is a GC Foundation Scholarship recipient and has been on the Dean's List.<br> <br> · Joshua Daniel Purcell of Homer. <br> <br> · Stephen Andrew Ratliff of Buford. The son of Blonnie Ratliff, he is a sophomore majoring in biology. He is a 2000 graduate of Buford High School and a Georgia HOPE Scholar. He also received scholarships from the American Legion, Women's Auxiliary and Buford Thrift Shop. While at GC he has been involved in the Democrats/Republicans Club, Politically Incorrect Club, Student Government Association and served on the Student Activities Fee Allocation Committee. <br> <br> · Dana Kaye Riley of Jefferson. <br> <br> · Kam Ho Billy Wong of Gainesville. An international student, he graduated from Law Ting Pong Secondary School in Hong Kong in 2001. He is a sophomore majoring in business administration and can speak five different languages. He is a member of the Campus Activities Board, Phi Theta Kappa and is a former president of the Asian Student Association. <br> <br> Outstanding students have been honored in the annual directory since it was first published in 1966. <br> <br>
