GAINESVILLE - After winning the Region 8A title on March 12, Lakeview Academy recently captured the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Class A Literary Meet state championship.

Team members compete in various events, and points are awarded to the team as a whole based placement of all of the entries. Lakeview's Nick Johnson took first place in boys' extemporaneous speaking, and Evelyne Freiermuth captured second place in girls' extemporaneous speaking.

In oral interpretation, Lakeview's Phillip Frobos earned second place in boys' competition, and Kaitlyn Turner took third place among the girls.

In the musical competition, Mary Beth Scully was awarded third place for girls' solo, then joined with Hillary Stanford and Taylor Hein to take third place in girls' trio. The boys' quartet of Nathan Wood, Chris Adams, Nic Allen-McCormack and Robert Scully captured third place. Their collective points gave Lakeview the state title over Seminole County.

Lakeview's team is coached by Gail Ingram, B.J. Addison, Lynda Byrne and Gina Bryant.
