UNDATED - A number of programs are planned in Gainesville and elsewhere in northeast georgia this weekend in observance of the third anniversary of 9/11.
They include Patriotism in the Park at Laurel Park north of Gainesville from 10:00-11:00 Saturday morning; the Cultlural Bridges Festival at Gainesville College from 11:00-5:00; and, in Hoschton, where the spotlight will be on fire, police, and other emergency responders during a daylong observance. Those commemorations are all planned Saturday.
On Sunday, September 12, Lakewood Baptist Church in Gainesvill will hold its 3rd annual memorial to 9/11 victims while honoring all members of the military. A special memorial will be offered in memory of Edna Stephens, the former Gainesville woman, who died in the attack on the Pentagon. Lakewood was the site of Stephens' funeral service.
