EPD clears East Hall sewerage plans

By by Ken Stanford
ATLANTA - The state Environmental Protection Division says Hall County's proposed North Oconee sewerage facilities will cause little environmental impact.

The $15.2 million dollar project will provide wastewater collection service using gravity sewers, a pump station and a force main.

EPD has concluded there will be no adverse impact on the environment and that any impact will be minimal - "consisting of temporary noise, dust and sediment and erosion" related to work on the project.

The agency says the primary beneficial impact will be "returning water resources to Lake Lanier, while permitting expansion without increasing the amount of wastewater handled by septic tanks."

The project will serve the North Oconee Sewerage Area to serve parts of Hall County now, with expansion to serve parts of Gainesville in the future.
