GAINESVILLE - A 47-year-old Gainesville man was arrested Wednesday morning on a number of charges including burglary and leaving the scene of an accident.
Gainesville Police Lt. Chad White says Manuel Garcia Hernandez was arrested shortly after he was spotted on Pearl Nix Parkway by a police officer. Lt. White says Hernandez pulled into a driveway on West Carter Street when the officer tried to stop him and fled on foot but was apprehended shortly afterward.
A lookout had been posted for his car after he allegedly left the scene of an accident earlier in the morning at Morningside and Riverside drives. There were no serious injuries in the accident and, according to White, items believed taken in the Lake Warner Drive burglary were recovered with Hernandez's arrest.
