Fire at Alto mill

ALTO - Things are expected to be back to normal by Wednesday morning at Mt. Vernon Mills in Alto following a fire Monday night.

Fire crews from three departments responded shortly after 6:00 to the blaze which was in an area of around 10,000 square feet in the Plant #1 Weaving Department.

Firemen say the sprinkler system had the fire contained before they arrived.

Cause of the fire remains unknown.

Units from the Cornelia and Baldwin fire departments and Habersham County Station #12 responded.
