Chamber endorses South Hall sewer plan

By by Ken Stanford
GAINESVILLE - The Hall County Commission picked up the support of the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce Thursday for the planned sewer line in the Chestnut Mountain area.

The Chairman of the chamber board of directors, Rob Fowler, said the group spent a lot of time looking at the issue from several standpoints, not the least of which is the opportunity for a new industrial park in South Hall. Fowler also said it will be easier to control development in that rapidly growing area if sewer service is available.

He also noted the "consistent position of the chamber to support sewer in South Hall" over the years.

Chamber board members voted without dissent Thursday to approve the resolution, though Fowler said he had received one "no" vote via e-mail from a board member not at the meeting.

The chamber will soon be asking you how you want Gainesville and Hall County to look 25-30 years from now. Fowler announced Thursday the "visioning" plan he proposed earlier this year - called Hallmark Vision - will be the subject of ten meetings planned around the county beginning this fall.

"We are on track to kick it off in September," Fowler said.
