Trawick named Employee of the Year at medical center

GAINESVILLE - Northeast Georgia Medical Center and Health System (NGHS) recognized its employees at the annual employee appreciation dinner held Wednesday at the Gainesville Civic Center.

Matt Trawick was selected as this year's Employee of the Year. Matt is a graphics technician and has worked at NGHS for 15 years. His wife, Alison, and his mother, Beth, are also employees at NGHS.

"Matt is exemplary of all that the employees of Northeast Georgia Health System should strive for," said Jim Gardner, president and CEO of Northeast Georgia Medical Center and Health System, who presented him with the award. "He is truly deserving to receive this award."

Also during the banquet, 453 employees and 30 retirees were honored for their tenure of service. Employees who celebrate five-year increments of consecutive years of service are recognized annually, and this year's employees contributed a total of more than 4895 collective years of service.

The hospital honored 234 employees for five years of service, 82 employees for 10 years, 44 employees for 15 years, 46 employees for 20 years, 24 employees for 25 years and 18 employees for 30 years. Evelyn House, Peggy Minor, Becky Shuler and Veran Smith were honored for 35 years of service, and Martha Hemphill was honored for 45 years of service. Martha is the first employee in NGHS history to reach this milestone.
