GAINESVILLE - Ground was broken Sunday for the first Habitat Humanity of Hall County house to be built through Habitat's "WomenBuild" program.

Although this will be a first for Hall County, female volunteer groups have built nearly 500 homes nationwide for Habitat over the years.

It will go up in the Rosewood subdivision off Gaines Mill Road and will be the 15th Habitat house constructed in Hall County.

It will become home to Melinda Hutchins and her three children, according to Habitat for Humanity of Hall County Executive Director Robb Owens.

About 75 people attended the groundbreaking - most of whom wore pink in recognition of the women who will build the house.
