Tuesday deadline to register to vote

GAINESVILLE - If you plan to vote in the November 7 General Election in Georiga, you only only a couple of more days to register if you are not already signed up.

The deadline is the close of business day on Tuesday.

There were just over 72,000 eligible voters for the July 18 primaries in Hall County.

Meanwhile, advance voting is continuing and has been underway for a couple of weeks. This is the new process which allows you to vote by mail or in the elections office regardless of the reason.

Hall County Elections Director Anne Phillips Lea emphasizes that no e-mail requests for ballots are allowed, only regular mail and by fax. The reason is because a "signature" is needed. Other information that is needed on the request includes name, address, return address, and reason - either one of the usual reasons or, with the changes in place this year, "no reason."

Early voting will begin at the elections office in Gainesville on Oct. 30 and continue through Nov. 3.
