Banks finalize deal

BLAIRSVILLE - United Community Banks Inc. has completed its acquisition of Southern Bancorp Inc. and its wholly owned subsidiary, Southern National Bank.

Southern operates banks in Cherokee and Cobb counties and becomes United's 26th community bank.

Under terms of the all-stock agreement, which was announced in September, Southern Bancorp's shareholders will receive common stock with a total value of about $66 million.
