How to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the '96 Olympics?

GAINESVILLE - Planning is beginning for a celebration in Gainesville of the 10th anniversary of the 1996 Olympics.

Rowing, canoe and kayak events were held on Lake Lanier.

Plans for the anniversary celebration are to be discussed at a meeting next week at the Lake Lanier Olympic Center, according to Connie Hagler, executive director of the Lanier Canoe & Kayak Club.

Hagler says the discussion will take place at a neighborhood meeting to be held Feb. 23 at 5:45 and the public is invited to the meeting. Also on the agenda will be the 2006 Calendar of Events for the venue.
