Flowery Branch to re-establish city manager position

By by Ken Stanford
FLOWERY BRANCH - Flowery Branch is moving ahead with plans to re-establish the position of city manager.

The new mayor and city council in Flowery Branch have voted to amend the city charter to clear the way to fill the post which has been vacant for several months.

Chris Rainwater resigned under pressure last year because of differences with the old administration. A new mayor - Diane Hirling - and three new city council members took office Jan. 1.

The council has begun advertising for applicants for the $65,000-$75,000 job on the Internet and plans to do so through the end of the month.
