Judge orders states to continue water talks

UNDATED - A federal judge has ordered Georgia, Alabama and Florida to resume talks in the war over water in Lake Lanier and other waterways.

U.S. District Judge Karon Bowdre has also named a mediator for the latest round of talks: a former federal judge from California.

And, Judge Bowdre wants an agreement by August 31st.

Talks have started and stopped several times, and the matter has been taken to court along the way since the dispute first surfaced in 1990.
