GAINESVILLE - A hit-and-run suspect eluded capture overnight after Gainesville Police tried to stop him.
Lt. Gary Entrekin says officers spotted the car at Athens Street and Monroe Drive, outside his car, inspecting the damage. But, when they approached the vehicle , the driver drove away.
"He went up Athens Street," Entrekin said. "He wasn't driving at a high rate of speed, but he ended up bailing out at Cooley Drive and Athens Street."
Lt. Entrekin says the man remains at large.
