GAINESVILLE - Some much needed rain fell over the weekend in north Georgia, with Gainesville picking up just over two inches.
The .97 inch that fell Sunday was the most in a single day since May 25 when .38 inch was recorded. The weekend total was 2.12 inches. That's more than fell the entire month of May and all of April. And, more is forecast Monday.
Nevertheless, the rainfall deficit for the year in Gainesville remains at about a foot.
The weekend showers followed a week of stronger restrictions on outdoor water use and talk of droughts and rainfall deficits.
