Former mayor to fill vacancy on Clermont City Council

GAINESVILLE - Former Mayor John Brady has been named to fill a vacancy on the Clermont City Council.

Brady was named to temporarily fill the post by the city council Tuesday night, according to city clerk Sandra Helton. "He will temporarily fill this vacancy until November, then we'll have a special election in November."

Helton adds there will have to be another election for the post in November 2007 because that's when the unexpired term of councilwoman Teddie Joe Grizzle, who resigned earlier this year, ends.

Brady said he is looking forward to being able to "serve my community. I am honored by the appointment and the confidence that the council has in me that I can be of help in making the Town of Clermont a town to be proud of and glad we live in."
