GAINESVILLE - A new subdivision with more than 550 housing units is planned near Chestnut Mountain.

The Hall County Planning Commission will consider a rezoning request for the property June 19.

It's a 279-acre tract on Old Winder Highway at Pleasant Hill Lane. Plans call for 488 houses, 73 town homes and a commercial/retail/ office component.

It is one of several residential rezoning applications planners are scheduled to consider that night. The others are much smaller.

They include one for nine lots on Gaines Mill road near Eberhart Cemetery Road; a six-lot development on Snelling Mill Road near Gaines Ferry Road; and, a gated community on eleven acres on Shoreline Drive in the area of Nautical Way and Flagship Drive. Also,on the agenda is a request involving plans for retail/office complex on less than an acre on Winder Highway near Bolding Road.

The agenda also includes plans, subject to county commission approval, for a cell phone tower on Conner Road near Jim Crow Road.
