ALBUQUERQUE - The man who was Flowery Branch city manager for about a year until he was forced out last fall has a new job with a small town in New Mexico.
The Albuquerque Journal reports Chris Rainwater has been hired to be the new city manager in Española, a town of about 9,500.
According to a posting on the paper's Web site, Rainwater will assume his new duties next Wednesday.
His year-long tenure in Flowery Branch was highlighted by almost constant tension with the then-mayor and some city council members, peppered by suits and countersuits until the council granted his request to resign in September with $23,000 in severance pay.
